Frequently asked questions

What is Decoder?

Decoder is an app that reads documents you provide, such as bills, contracts, letters, and notices, and explains in plain language what the document contains and what it means for you.

Does Decoder give legal or financial advice?

No. Decoder explains what a document says. It does not provide legal, financial, or other professional advice, and its output should not be relied on as such. For advice about your situation, consult a qualified professional. See our Terms of Service for details.

Are my documents private? Do you store them?

The full text of a document you submit is sent to our processing provider to produce the analysis, and it is not stored by us. What we keep is the resulting analysis, which includes short quoted excerpts from the document. You can delete any item from your history, or delete your account and all associated history, at any time. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail.

Who can see my data?

Your data is not sold and is not used for advertising. We share information only with the service providers that operate the app, such as our processing, storage, hosting, sign-in, and payment providers. These are listed in our Privacy Policy.

How does the free trial work?

New subscribers get 7 days free. The trial begins when you start the subscription through the App Store. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it converts automatically to a paid subscription at the standard price for the plan you chose.

How am I billed, and how do I cancel?

Subscriptions are billed through your Apple ID. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple ID settings, under Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and you keep access until the end of the current period. Uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription.

Can I get a refund?

Payments and refunds are handled by Apple. Refund requests are made through Apple using the Report a Problem process on your purchase receipt or in your Apple account.

What kinds of documents can I use it with?

Decoder is designed for everyday paperwork, such as bills, contracts, leases, government letters, fines, and insurance documents. It works best with clear text or a clear photo.

How accurate is it?

Decoder uses automated systems, and its output may be incomplete or incorrect. Treat it as a starting point for understanding a document, not a final answer, and check anything important against the original document.

How do I delete my account and data?

Open Settings in the app and choose Delete account. This removes your account and your decode history.

Which sign-in methods are supported?

You can sign in with Apple, Google, or an email address and password.
